  Engineering ability is one of our strong points, and the added value to clients. At LHP, great importance is attached onto mold design and engineering, we hire most experienced engineers and designers, formalize tooling standard, mold make-ability study and design checklist, to ensure the new mold is finally designed well. We not only make good mold design, but also analyze your product design beforehand, we will raise proposal of product design changes from tooling and molding perspective to optimize product design if necessary.

  And we also pay much attention to mold trial and qualification process, to ensure the molds function well meeting client’s requirements.

  Normal new mould creation engineering main process description:

Product and mold make ability study. Using our expertise and insight into plastic parts, we do make-ability study based on 3d data of product, we may propose to our clients the product optimization in terms of draft angle, undercut, parting lines, wall thickness, gate position, etc. to minimize potential quality defects and facilitate mold construction, meanwhile we raise mold construction ideas or options to our clients to check if necessary. So we can go further in line with our client’s requirement effectively.

Preliminary mould design. Firstly we make layout of mold design in 2d drawing including cavities orientation, parting lines, mold base, water circuits, all kinds of mechanism(slide, lifter, hydraulic), injection gate/hot runner system, ejectors, bill of material etc. this is can be submitted to client for approval of ordering steel.

Final 2d mold design derived from or made according to 3d mold design. The parting lines, sub-inserts, ejectors, lifters, slides are finally designed in 3d model, that will be reflected in the final 2d mold design. In final 2d mold design, the peripheral fittings will show up, like mold name plate, power & thermocouple connectors box; BOM will be complete. The final 2d mold design is submitted to client for approval of cutting steel.

Fabrication process and progress report, our engineers follow up the process and prepare progress report. Project manager update client on a weekly basis.

FOT mold trial. Our mold engineer monitors mold trial process, to testify the mold function and help develop robust injection molding process parameters, and raise proposal for optimization of mold if necessary. This is a very important step and we pay much attention to it. In the regard of developing robust injection molding process parameters, we test the mold on the machine as close as possible to what client specified, checking the visual quality and SPC dimensions, to get the best molding settings which can achieve good visual quality and dimensions.

FOT samples delivery to client by express, dimension report will be following a few days after that along with mold test report.

Mold optimization, correction or modification. According to mold test and sample check report and client's comments, we will optimize and re-test the mold until all issues are closed.

Mold inspection for delivery to client or release for production after receiving client's instruction.

Mold delivery to client along with spare parts and tool binder containing all tooling documents. this will be made by tooling project manager.

If the complexity of mold is average, we may combine step 2 and 3 into 1 step to shorten the lead time.
